The institution is always
safeguarding the student interest. After the de-linking of Pre Degree course
the academic atmosphere of the college has improved. All the teachers give
support to the Principal in maintaining discipline. Academic programmes are
monitored frequently. Internal tests, seminars, discussions etc encourage the
students. The internal assessment is very effective in analyzing the various
skills and academic standards of students. The tutorial system is helpful in
understanding and redressing their grievances. Placements of good students
have always been a motivation for others to improve themselves. All the
departments have produced such outstanding students who have been a great
inspiration for the others to strive for the best. The placement cell gives
the necessary advice and motivation to the students to find good placements.
The college calendar is printed from government press. It has two parts. The first part gives general information on various courses, fee structure, concession facilities for SC/ST/OBC and financially weak students, etc. The second part contains details about the working days and holidays. Almost all students, irrespective of their social background, are getting concession on production of necessary certificates. Since it is a Government institution the fee structure is not very high. It is fixed by the government. The college calendar gives clear picture about the rules and regulations regarding admission, examination and discipline. All the necessary student support information is given there.
Students get various scholarships like National Merit scholarship, University Merit scholarship, and also Proficiency prizes declared by PTA based on their academic performances. Poor Students Aid Fund is distributed to the needy students based on their financial background and academic performance. Besides these, during 2004-05, a sizable amount has been raised by the staff members to help financially weak students. Poor and backward students are given special attention by the teachers. Women empowerment cell, Student counseling cell and grievance cell have been constituted and are functioning effectively. Counseling has helped many students to show improvement in their studies. Kasaragod is an educationally backward area where people speak different languages, come from different social, financial and religious background. There are facilities to promote better interaction and unity among them. Indoor and outdoor facilities for extra curricular activities are available. Nature club, Tourism club Entrepreneurship club, NSS, NCC, Cultural forum, Science forum and various associations help the students to choose their appropriate field of interest. Every year literary and cultural competitions are conducted by the Fine Arts Club and also by the various departments. Coaching is given in sports and games to those who are interested in the same. The college magazine which is published every year gives scope to the students to express their literary talents. Normally overseas students do not approach for admissions. There is provision for giving admission to such students. Lakhadweep students get admission without any difficulty.
The college alumni association is functioning effectively. Many old students are working in the Gulf countries and elsewhere in well off positions. They show great interest in the activities of the college. All departments have departmental alumni association. The Association serves as a link between the college and the public in academic and other allied matters The Association played a commendable role in the silver Jubilee celebrations. The association meets regularly and renders all possible work in the developmental activities of the college.
